On June 5th, a high-level delegation from Sena Kalyan Overseas Employment Services Ltd. (SKOESL) and Yume International, Japan, paid a strategic visit to the Caregivers Institute of Bangladesh (CIB) in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The delegation was led by Major Mehedi Hasan (Retd), Deputy General Manager (DGM) of SKOESL, accompanied by Mr. Kabir Bhuiya representing Yume International.
This visit underscores SKOESL’s commitment to quality and ethical recruitment as one of the select few agencies enlisted with the Japan Embassy and authorized to export manpower under the Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement. The objective was to inspect CIB’s facilities and discuss collaborative pathways for training and deploying highly skilled Bangladeshi caregivers to meet the growing demands of Japan’s healthcare sector.
Spotlight on CIB: A Center for Excellence in Caregiving
Established in 2019, the Caregivers Institute of Bangladesh (CIB) has rapidly emerged as a “vocational training powerhouse” with a vision to transform Bangladesh’s socio-economic landscape by creating a globally competitive workforce. Accredited by the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA) and the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB), CIB serves as a vital national asset, bridging the gap between Bangladesh’s human capital and global labor needs.
Under the leadership of Founder and Chairman Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. Prof. Md. Bashidul Islam, the institute operates on a unique philosophy: “The fundamental purpose of Caregiver Institute of Bangladesh (CIB) is learning, not teaching. Here, you learn how to learn”.
World-Class Curriculum & Facilities
During the visit, the delegation reviewed CIB’s comprehensive curriculum, which is benchmarked against international standards to produce professionals proficient in both technical trade and cross-cultural communication. Key features of their training model include:
- Rigorous Training Structure: Courses are meticulously designed for 360 hours of theoretical and practical training, followed by a compulsory 160-hour industrial attachment to ensure trainees are workplace-ready.
- Specialized Care Programs: The institute offers NSC Level-3 certification in high-demand areas such as Caregiving for Elderly Persons, Dementia Care, Child Care, and Care for Persons with Disabilities.
- Holistic Development: Beyond healthcare, trainees receive instruction in computer operations, digital literacy, and soft skills to ensure they are technologically literate and adaptable.
A Strategic Partnership for Japan
With Japan’s aging society creating a massive demand for caregivers under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), the collaboration between SKOESL and training centers like CIB is critical.
CIB is uniquely positioned to support SKOESL’s G2G recruitment goals by incorporating Japanese language and culture modules into their curriculum. The institute is actively exploring partnerships to provide linguistic preparation for Japan-specific caregiving examinations, ensuring that candidates selected by SKOESL are not only technically proficient but also culturally prepared for life in Japan.
The visit by Major Mehedi Hasan and the Yume International team highlights the synergy between top-tier training institutions and ethical recruitment agencies. By aligning CIB’s “learning-centric” training with SKOESL’s prestigious status as a Japan-enlisted recruiting partner, we are paving the way for a generation of Bangladeshi youth to achieve dignified, professional careers on the global stage.
